Are NIOS Students Eligible: The National Medical Council (NMC) has provided clarification regarding the eligibility of students. From the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in the NEET UG examination following an RTI inquiry. The NMC confirmed that students from NIOS, state open schools, or those studying privately are permitted to take the exam. Furthermore, the NMC indicated that students may enroll in an additional subject through NIOS at an accredited institution.

This clarification issued subsequent to the release of the NEET UG 2025 information bulletin by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Addressing the confusion experienced by students. The NMC noted that the NEET UG 2025 bulletin published by the NTA does not entirely conform to NMC regulations. The NMC stated, “Students can study through NIOS and still appear for NEET UG under GMER-23 regulations.”
Previously, the Supreme Court criticized the NMC’s stipulation that candidates must have both hands intact to pursue medical education. Labeling this requirement as an instance of “ableism” and asserting that it contradicts the principles of fairness and inclusivity outlined in the Constitution of India.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) commenced the registration process for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2025 on February 7. Eligible candidates can submit their applications for NEET 2025 via the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. The deadline for application submission is March 7, 2025. With the examination scheduled for May 4 and results anticipated to released on June 14.
