NEET UG 2025 Results on Hold: Madhya Pradesh HC Indore Bench ordered a temporary halt

Madhya Pradesh HC Indore Bench ordered a temporary halt

Madhya Pradesh HC Indore Bench ordered a temporary halt: The Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has instructed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to suspend the announcement of NEET-UG 2025 examination results, following a petition that claimed disruptions caused by a power outage at one of the examination centers.

Justice Subodh Abhyankar issued this interim order after observing that neither the NTA nor a representative from the Union of India appeared in court to address the matter, despite a prior order from May 13 requiring them to provide guidance on the issue.

The Court clarified that this stay order is applicable nationwide and is not confined to any particular center or region. This delay in result declaration may impact approximately 21 lakh candidates who participated in NEET-UG 2025. The next hearing is set to occur in about four weeks.

The petition indicated that a power failure transpired around 3:30 PM during the examination, which was conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 center in Indore. It was alleged that, due to the lack of backup power, candidates had to complete the exam under inadequate lighting, with candles being provided only after 4:30 PM, resulting in less than 30 minutes of sufficient visibility.

The petitioners have sought either a re-examination for the affected candidates or suitable alternatives to ensure a fair assessment.

In its ruling, the Court noted: โ€œThe respondents did not provide appropriate conditions for the petitioners during the NEET-UG 2025 examinations on May 4, 2025, due to a power failure that affected various areas of the city. Therefore, until the next hearing, the respondents are prohibited from announcing the results

.โ€ Currently, NTA officials have not released any statements regarding the High Courtโ€™s order or the claims made in the petition.
