NEET UG New Rules is set to implement significant modifications to the medical admission examination. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) is anticipated to undergo substantial updates this year. Officials are considering administering the exam online in two phases, akin to the previous structure. The initial phase may function as a preliminary assessment, while the subsequent phase could serve as the main examination. This approach mirrors the admission process for IITs, which necessitates candidates to successfully complete the JEE advanced exams.

According to sources within the ministry, serious deliberations are currently underway regarding the potential two-phase structure for NEET UG 2025, with a conclusive decision expected shortly. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently suggested that, similar to the JEE Main and UGC NET examinations. NEET UG will also transition to an online format. It has reported that multiple meetings have taken place with the Ministry of Health concerning this matter.

Updates on NEET 2025 Regulations: Recent Developments and News

  1. The High Power Committee has proposed new regulations for NEET UG 2025, which include a two-phase examination format.
  2. Ongoing discussions between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, anticipated to yield a decision on the new structure soon.
  3. The suggested format consists of a preliminary examination as the first stage and a main examination as the second stage.
  4. In NEET UG 2024, over 23 lakh students participated in the examination.
  5. For NEET UG 2025, the candidate count projected to rise to approximately 25 lakh.
  6. There are 110,000 MBBS seats available nationwide, encompassing both government and private institutions.

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised NEET UG 2025 candidates to utilize their APAAR ID. And ensure their Aadhaar information is current for the registration process.
  • The Ministry of Education and Health, in collaboration with the NTA, has implemented various initiatives concerning the NEET UG examination this year.
  • Following last year’s significant irregularities in the exam, which led to widespread public outcry. The NTA recognized its errors, including the provision of grace marks and the decision to reconduct the exam for those impacted.
  • Reports of paper leaks emerged from several regions. And the matter of irregularities in NEET UG, escalated to the Supreme Court.
  • In light of these issues, the Ministry of Education established a high-level committee, chaired by former ISRO chief Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, to initiate reforms within the NTA.
  • This committee presented several important recommendations aimed at reforming examination processes. Including NEET UG, and communicated these proposals to the Supreme Court.
  • A notable suggestion from the High Power Committee was to consider the implementation of NEET UG in multiple phases to enhance fairness and transparency.
