Two-Shift Exam: The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has officially revealed the date for the NEET PG 2025 examination on its official website. However, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduation (NEET-PG) is set to take place on June 15, 2025, and will be administered in a computer-based format over two shifts. This announcement has raised significant concerns among candidates and stakeholders regarding the fairness as well as normalization procedures associated with the exam.
Further, as a pivotal examination for postgraduate medical admissions, NEET PG draws thousands of candidates annually. The introduction of a two-shift format has led to dissatisfaction among applicants. Who worry about potential inconsistencies in evaluation and administration.
Medical Community Raises Concerns Over Two-Shift Format Exam
Although the NBE asserts that the two-shift format will accommodate a larger number of students. Numerous doctors, medical organizations, and activists have voiced their objections. They contend that this shift-based system may complicate the normalization process.
Dr. Rohan Krishnan, a supporter of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA). Moreover, expressed his strong disapproval of the decision on social media, stating, “The NEET PG examination conducted in two shifts is unacceptable. Previous instances have led to student protests, legal actions, and allegations of malpractice in the normalization process.”
Similarly, Dr. Lakshya Mittal, National President of the United Doctor Front (UDF), called on Union Health Minister JP Nadda to reconsider this decision. He highlighted that the normalization process implemented in NEET PG 2024 resulted in considerable discrepancies and legal disputes. “Rather than ensuring a fair assessment, multiple shifts introduce inconsistencies that undermine the integrity of the examination,” he remarked.

Demands for a Unified Examination Shift Grow Stronger
Medical professionals and associations are increasingly calling for a single-shift examination to promote transparency and equity. Dr. Rohan Krishan and Dr. Lakshya Mittal have appealed to the relevant authorities. To address the concerns of candidates and to facilitate a seamless and impartial examination process.
Numerous students have expressed their worries. Highlighting that the potential differences in exam difficulty across shifts contribute to heightened mental stress and diminished confidence.
