Marks in NEET: The National Testing Agency (NTA) administered the NEET UG 2025 examination on May 4, 2025. With results anticipated by June 14, discussions have emerged regarding the feasibility of students achieving a perfect score of 720 out of 720 in this demanding assessment.
Following the contentious NEET 2024 results, where numerous candidates attained full marks, the medical community is now divided on the likelihood of obtaining a perfect score in NEET 2025.
NEET 2025 Considered One of the Toughest Papers Since 2016
This year’s NEET UG 2025 is considered one of the most challenging examinations since 2016. Experts have likened its difficulty, particularly in the Physics section, to that of the JEE Advanced. Students have also noted that the Biology and Chemistry sections were unusually lengthy, resulting in many being unable to complete the exam within the given time frame.
Leading coaching institutes and student feedback have corroborated that the paper was predominantly difficult. Unlike previous years, this year’s exam featured fewer straightforward NCERT-based questions and a greater emphasis on analytical and numerical problems. This change necessitated a deeper understanding of concepts and improved time management, complicating the ability of students to answer all questions within the time limit.
Expert opinions: Perfect Score Unlikely in NEET 2025
Dr. Aviral Mathur, President of the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), remarked on the exam’s difficulty: ‘The paper was not easy at all. In contrast to last year’s controversy surrounding high scores, this year it appears that the exam setters intentionally included numerous challenging and contentious questions. It is highly unlikely that anyone will score 720 this year. Nevertheless, students should not be disheartened; relative ranks remain the most significant.’ Dr. Vinod, President of the Doctor Welfare Association, shared similar apprehensions. Dr. Rohan Krishnan, Patron of the Federation of All India Medical Association, also addressed the escalating concerns.
