Mandatory Service Bond Implemented: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has introduced a compulsory one-year bond service policy for MBBS and postgraduate medical students, effective from the 2025-26 academic year. As outlined in the IPU Admission Brochure 2025. Students enrolled in MBBS and PG programs obligated to fulfill a one-year bond service following the completion of their courses, which encompasses the internship period. During this service, students must work in medical facilities under the Government of the National Capital Territory (GNCT) of Delhi.
Under the new regulations, MBBS and PG students, including those in super-specialty programs. Required to pay a fee of Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, respectively, upon admission. This amount will forfeited if they opt out of the mandatory bond service. This decision has faced strong opposition from aspiring students and medical associations.

Who stands to gain or lose?
Typically, NEET PG bond policies fall into three categories: service bonds, seat-leaving bonds, and bank guarantees. Until recently, Delhi was among the few states without a service bond requirement. However, last year, the Delhi Health Department declared that starting from the 2025-26 academic session. Medical students in Delhi will mandated to complete a service bond.
