Two Doctor Arrested in NEET UG:In Patna, authorities in Samastipur, Bihar have apprehended two individuals, including a government physician, for allegedly facilitating cheating among students in the NEET-UG 2025 examination. The arrested parties include Dr. Ranjit Kumar, who is currently on leave and detained in Begusarai jail, and Ram Babu Malik, a former staff member of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital.
According to police reports, Dr. Ranjit accepted payments from academically challenged students and arranged for high-achieving students, primarily those studying medicine, to take the exam on their behalf. He charged between Rs 8 to 10 lakh for each instance and compensated the impersonators with Rs 2.5 to 5 lakh.
Authorities discovered six admit cards on Dr. Ranjit’s mobile device. Following a tip-off, they apprehended him and Ram Babu near an examination venue at Mohanpur Bridge, seizing Rs 50,000 in cash, three mobile phones, and a vehicle registered under Ram Babu’s name. Both individuals admitted to their involvement in the scheme and were remanded to custody for 14 days.

Dr. Ranjit informed the police that he collected half of the fee prior to the examination and the remainder after the results were announced, while Ram Babu assisted in locating students willing to serve as proxies.
In a related incident, Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit arrested SK Faiz in Araria for soliciting money from students with the promise of providing NEET question papers. Officials have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests may follow.
